Snikket is a fully open-source personal messaging server that allows groups of people such as family, friends, clubs and small organisations to have their own private communication space.

You can use our simple dashboard to launch Snikket instances for you in just a few minutes. It’s a great option if you’re just looking for a more privacy-friendly alternative to mainstream messengers such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Telegram, without any technical knowledge required.

For the more technically-inclined, we also provide instructions for how to self-host a Snikket instance on your own server, VPS, or even a low-power device such as a Raspberry Pi.

Pricing

Charging for our service allows us to run as a sustainable not-for-profit organization, building and promoting our principles of communication freedom.

Pricing varies based on the plan you select, whether you pay monthly/annually, and your region - we provide per-country pricing to account for currency conversion, taxes, fees and affordability. The cheapest plan is equivalent to $6 USD or less. You will be able to view and choose from available plans with accurate pricing information during the setup process.

All plans include a 14-day trial period, so you can be sure you are happy with our service before we charge you.

Note for JMP customers: If you are (or are planning to be) a JMP.chat subscriber and you want to take advantage of their offer of a free hosted Snikket instance, you do not need to sign up here. Simply contact JMP support to request an instance for your JMP account.
