Snikket app

The Snikket app allows you to stay in touch with family, friends or colleagues easily and securely.

There are no ads, no trackers, and no sharing of your personal data. How? We choose instead open and honest sustainability through donations and paid accounts. We have nothing to hide, which is why all our apps are open-source. Our server software is also open-source and can also be easily self-hosted if you have the means to do so.

Our app uses industry-standard end-to-end encryption, to ensure that only you and the recipient can read your messages and protect your private communications from eavesdroppers and data thieves.

Voice and video calling

When a short voice message isn’t enough, enjoy live calls with high-quality audio and video for that face-to-face experience. All safely encrypted, of course.

No phone required

Unlike many other messengers these days, Snikket is not tied to a phone number. You can even create multiple accounts, each with their own profile and contacts, to separate family and work for example.

Snikket runs just fine on a large range of mobile devices, including tablets. Repurpose that old living room tablet as a family messaging device!

Connect all your devices

Many of us interact with more personal devices than just a phone. Snikket lets you sign into your account from as many devices as you like. Conversations are automatically synchronized across them all so you never miss a message.

Group messaging

Create, join and discover groups easily from the app. Choose from private encrypted groups or public groups.

Secure backups

Create a secure encrypted backup of your conversations any time you want using the backup feature built into the app. Store the backup somewhere safe, and easily restore everything on to a new device if you ever lose your phone.
